The ghoul in Insidious Chapter 2

The Long-Haired Fiend, sometimes knonw as "the Ghoul" of the "Long-haired Demon", is the alias given to the spirit of a mysterious and violent man existing in the Further and acts as the third main antagonist throughout Insidious and a minor antagonist in the sequel.

History

Insidious

The Long-haired Fiend appears twice throughout Insidious. In his first appearance, he tries to sexually assault Renai in the living world, but is repelled. The second time, he guards the door leading into the Demon's lair and attempts to overpower Josh and take his body. He nearly succeeds in doing so, but through Elise's encouragement, Josh defeats and forces him back into the darkness.

Insidious Chapter 2

The Long-haired Fiend made another appearance in the sequel as a minor antagonist. Josh first sees him when he finds his own house in the further and sees the demon pacing along the front of the house. It then sees Josh, smiles creepily at him and enters the house. Knowing that it will be able to attack Renai and the baby, Josh runs after it. In the real world, Renai hears the baby crying and goes into her room, and immidiately sees the demon standing behind a curtain over cot. She calls Josh who quickly goes into the room and checks around. Back in the further, Josh has broken into the house and rushes upstairs to find the demon in the same room as it was entountered by Renai. He confronts it and ends up being wrestled to the ground by the creature. At this point we hear a female voice say, "Go to hell!" The demon is sent flying out of the window. As Josh's saviour turns round, we see that it is Elise.

Appearance

Unlike the other spirits inhabiting the Further, the Long-haired Fiend is actively malicious and has attacked the Lambert family on a few occassions.

His appearance and mannerisms suggests he may have been a criminal in his former life and descended into the Further when he died. As a ghost, his face seems to have degenerated, hence why he is labeled as 'the Long-haired Fiend'.

He wears a black leather trenchcoat, sports dark hair and eyes, and has gaunt, crackling skin.
